Concert venue in Aarhus
HeadQuarters in Aarhus combines live concerts with a nightclub programme spanning niche metal and indie as well as disco, funk and soul.
HeadQuarters opened as a venue in central Aarhus in 2011, but its story began in an apartment where the musicians played live in the middle of the living room. It was founded by musicians who wanted a venue for original music. Today, HQ is both a music venue and a nightclub. The concert programme ranges from niche metal, indie and jazz to electronic and experimental music, while the club focuses on disco, funk and soul.
HQ is in a low-ceilinged basement with a distinct 70s character, inspired by classic soul and funk.
When the live programme ends, HQ turns into a nightclub playing disco, funk and soul.
HQ has fixed sofa areas with café tables as part of the concert venue’s interior.
14 January 2011
Before HQ became a venue, the musicians played live in the middle of an apartment. When HeadQuarters opened as a venue in central Aarhus in 2011, John Hassall was on the programme for opening weekend on 14 January.
2022
In 2022, Aarhus Municipality proposed demolishing the building that houses HeadQuarters and Bora Bora. The proposal put the venue’s future in the public debate, and demonstrators carried banners calling for HQ to be preserved.
Genres and moods that feature more prominently here than at other Aarhus venues right now.
