Musikhuset Aarhus brings together six halls and ten stages for concerts and performing arts in many formats.
Musikhuset Aarhus opened in 1982 and has since been expanded in several stages. Today, it has six halls and ten stages, with a programme ranging from classical music and opera to jazz, pop, rock and musicals. Among these spaces is the Great Hall, arranged as an auditorium for up to 1,588 guests. The other halls and stages accommodate different formats, and the venue hosts more than 1,500 events each year.
The Great Hall is arranged as an auditorium for 1,588 guests across the floor, balcony and side balconies.
The Rhythmic Hall accommodates both seated and standing concerts, with room for up to 1,000 standing guests when its seating platforms are retracted.
Symphonic Hall was designed for symphonic and acoustic music in collaboration with Artec, with proportions inspired by the Golden Hall of Vienna's Musikverein.
3 November 1983
Tina Turner played Musikhuset on 3 November 1983 for around 1,300 guests; the concert was not sold out. Her album Private Dancer followed the next year.
1983–2000
Musikhuset and Århus Stiftstidende ran the “We have the stage – do you have the music?” competition from 1983 to 2000. Michael Learns to Rock won the final on the Amphitheatre Stage in 1988, and Tina Dickow won there in 1998.

The Raveonettes played SPOT 08 at Musikhuset in May 2002. Rolling Stone journalist David Fricke saw the band at the festival; his subsequent coverage contributed to international attention and the band's path to a deal with Columbia.
6 July 2008
Around 10,000 people attended Leonard Cohen's outdoor concert in Musikhusparken on 6 July 2008. Six trees were felled to make room for the concert.
