Concert venue in Aarhus
At Godsbanen in Aarhus, Radar presents experimental, alternative and niche music by local, Danish and international artists.
Radar grew out of Musikcaféen, which began in 1978. In 2012, the venue moved from Mejlgade to Godsbanen and became Radar. Its programme spans local, Danish and international artists, with a focus on experimental, alternative and niche music. The venue also develops concert formats in which the stage and audience layout can be adapted to each performance, and explores the intersections between music and other art forms.
The modular stage can be moved, made smaller and reshaped from one concert to the next.
Radar can use a quadraphonic sound setup with four independent speakers placed around the concert hall.
For selected formats, the area adjoining the concert hall can be used for performances, films, talks or smaller concerts.
30 March 2012
Musikcaféen moved from Mejlgade to Godsbanen, where the venue opened under the name Radar on 30 March 2012.
25 October 2017
For the Lyd + Litteratur Festival on 25 October 2017, Radar became a dark quadraphonic space for SPEOS, a sound work by Schweppenhäuser/Thomsen and Morten Søndergaard, performed for a reclining audience.
